At Kaomix, we believe you should be able to enjoy cute Japanese emoticons without being tracked, profiled, or having your data sold. This policy explains what (very little) information we collect — and why it's almost nothing.
1. No Accounts • No Login • No Personal Data Collection
Kaomix does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information such as name, email, or phone number.
We do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or any contact details
- Your IP address for long-term tracking or profiling
- Your location (beyond very coarse country-level analytics that cannot identify you)
- Any browsing history outside this site
2. What We Do Collect (and Why)
Local Storage (in your browser only)
- Favorites — kaomoji you mark with ♡ are saved locally in your browser using
localStorage. This data never leaves your device. - Copied count — a simple counter of how many kaomoji you've copied (also local only, for the stats bar fun).
Basic Anonymous Usage Statistics
We use a privacy-respecting, server-side analytics tool (likely Plausible Analytics or similar) that collects:
- Page views
- Referrer (where visitors come from)
- Country (very approximate, no city or precise coordinates)
- Device type (desktop/mobile)
- Browser type/version (general, no fingerprinting)
No cookies • No user tracking • No cross-site tracking • No advertising
3. Third-Party Services
We currently use:
- Google Fonts (fonts are loaded directly from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com)
- Possibly a form backend (Formspree / Formcarry / etc.) on the Contact page — only collects what you voluntarily submit
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, any ad network, or any other tracking-heavy service.
4. Cookies & Similar Technologies
Kaomix uses no tracking cookies.
The only persistent data is localStorage (your favorites & copy count), which:
- Stays on your device
- Is not sent to any server
- You can delete at any time by clearing browser storage
5. Children's Privacy
Kaomix is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
6. Changes to This Policy
If we ever make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and may add a small notice on the homepage for a short time.
